What is a Welcoming Plan for Immigrant Inclusion?

Contra Costa County is writing a Welcoming Plan for Immigrant Inclusion with support from the national Gateways for Growth program.  Gateways for Growth combines New American Economy and Welcoming America, two national think tanks and leaders in immigrant inclusion work.  They have helped cities and counties across the United States develop plans to fully engage and serve immigrant communities in a welcoming, compassionate, and inclusive manner.  Contra Costa County applied to the Gateways for Growth program in order to build upon years of immigrant inclusion work in many community sectors, and connect our prior work to plans to open an Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice.

How will the Contra Costa County Welcoming Plan for Immigrant Inclusion be written?

Contra Costa County’s Gateways for Growth Support Team is connecting with trusted community partners across the County.

Contra Costa County’s Gateways for Growth Advisory Committee will be synthesizing community feedback, notes from listening sessions, and survey responses with their personal and lived experiences as immigrants, refugees, and advocates in Contra Costa County.  The Advisory Committee will discuss recommendations to be delivered to the planning committee for the Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice.

The Welcoming Plan for Immigrant Inclusion will be released in November 2021 to solicit community feedback before final publication in December 2021.
